Humpback Whale’ Hosta is one of Mildred Seaver’s legendary plants. For years and years it was never seen anywhere and was becoming something of a myth. Then Charlie Seaver showed up with it at the 2006 AHS National Convention with a huge multi-division piece of it. He and his mom donated it to the auction and it the final bid was $3500.
Small/Medium: Velvet green leaves that are lightly puckered and shiny underneath
Small: clump has very ruffled blue, lance-shaped leaves and the base of the petiole is red
Large: 20″ high x 48″ wide mound. Leaves have a blue-green center with a yellow margin. Corrugated, good substance.
